Metallic Finishes and Patinas

There are many new metallic paints and faux finishes that can be applied to virtually any surface, interior or exterior, to give the appearance of anything from bright gold to antique bronze, pewter, or brass. Most of these metallic effects are easy to apply and can add just the right touch of class to any environment. Metallic finishes are gaining in popularity among the decorative paints. Existing crown molding was painted to match aged gilt picture frames in room below.

Entry gate made of wrought iron had aged copper paint applied and then given patina to look like it had weathered.

This dining room ceiling was given three full coats of pale gold metallic paint, then the same metallic paint was sponged on the walls.
